Hats off to Ballets Jazz Montréal on the occasion of its 50th anniversary! Excellence, innovation, energy and passion are the hallmarks of BJM’s long and successful run. An audience favourite, back in Saint-Sauveur for the first time since 2015, the troupe offers us an all-woman triple bill expressing the very essence of the company. Two key works from the repertoire, Aszure Barton’s Les chambres des Jacques and Crystal Pite’s Ten Duets on Rescue, are on the program. As a bonus, a world premiere entitled We Can’t Forget What’s His Name by emerging talent and BJM performer Ausia Jones offers a new perspective inspired by diverse gestural languages, groove, and counterpoint. Innovative, sensual, human and complex works that strike a balance between past, present and future.
“With their explosive, powerful and rapid dance style, the dancers delighted the audience. At the end, the applause was frenetic.” Verlagshaus Jaumann, Lörrach, Germany
