Mouvement de passage FASS
Cultural mediation project
Mouvement de passage FASS is a cultural mediation project that brings dance and music directly into living environments for seniors experiencing loss of autonomy, illness, or end-of-life care. Led by artists from the Laurentians, the project offers intimate, personalized performances delivered right in residents’ rooms. Designed as a roaming experience, a musician and one or more dancers move from door to door, creating unique moments of connection, emotion, and presence. These encounters foster meaningful human contact, offering comfort, wonder, and a sense of calm to those visited.
In 2026 and 2027, Mouvement de passage FASS will continue its outreach in seniors’ residences across the Laurentians region. Thanks to the renewal of Cultural Development Agreements by the Government of Québec, in partnership with the MRCs of Pays-d’en-Haut and Antoine-Labelle, as well as the support of the Minister Responsible for Seniors, Sonia Bélanger, the project will expand its reach and increase the number of visits. This new phase will strengthen community connections and broaden access to these sensitive artistic experiences for individuals who are often isolated.
Launched in 2022 with initial support from the MRC des Pays-d’en-Haut, the project quickly demonstrated its strong human and artistic impact. Since its inception, 92 visits have been carried out in 14 care facilities across a territory spanning from Saint-Jérôme to Mont-Laurier. Renewed annually in the MRC des Pays-d’en-Haut, the project has also been invited to extend its reach to other regions, including the MRC Antoine-Labelle (2023), the Laurentides (2024), and Rivière-du-Nord (2024 and 2025). Its contribution was recognized at the Grands Prix de la culture des Laurentides, where it received the Municipal Award for its work with vulnerable populations and its role in reducing social isolation.
