Crypto comes to Saint-Sauveur this summer with an upgraded version that has been acclaimed by critics and audiences across the country. This innovative work, the result of a collaboration between dancer/choreographer Guillaume Côté, artistic director of the Festival, and librettist Royce Vavrek (Angel’s Bone, 2017 Pulitzer Prize for music), blends classical and contemporary dance, theatre, and stunning visual effects by Montreal multimedia company Mirari. Crypto takes an original approach to universal themes: forced displacement, man’s stubborn desire to control and artificially transform beauty. Carried by an exceptional cast, this is a strong and original work set to a rich and varied musical landscape by Swedish composer Mikael Karlsson.
“As much by his choreography as by his execution, Guillaume Côté showed himself to be at the top of his art with partners who were themselves at the height of their passion.” Journal Accès, Saint-Sauveur
