After premiering Crypto, X (Dix) and the first draft of Hamlet (co-created with Robert Lepage) at FASS, acclaimed dancer and choreographer Guillaume Côté presents his brand-new work for nine dancers, Burn Baby, Burn. Tackling a hotly debated topic, this powerful metaphor denounces the widespread denial of climate change and sounds the alarm about the urgent need to act.
As we persist in this dance of denial, the heat builds to a crescendo until the final climax inspires us to come together and create a brighter future for all.
“There is an interesting research into movement, often flirting with the beautiful lines of classical ballet. The technique and virtuosity are there for all to see.”
Le Devoir, Montréal
“Côté assembled a team of creatives whose own dynamic energies help drive the artistic process towards a goal of dance innovation. But it’s the dancing, showcasing a blend of classical and contemporary idioms, that’s the star of the show.”
Canadian Stage, Toronto
