A unique collaboration between Guillaume Côté, charismatic dancer and artistic director of the Festival, and Robert Lepage, theater icon and exceptional Shakespearean director. After co-creating Frame by Frame in 2018 for the National Ballet of Canada, these two distinguished artists will premiere in Saint-Sauveur, the first draft of their Hamlet, a mythical play whose hero has captivated and moved audiences since its origination. Lepage and Côté take up the challenge of approaching the work solely through dance, supported by a cast of nine hand-picked performers, the music of John Gzowski, and an innovative set design. A unique chance to see the evolution of this work and witness the creative process of these two great Quebec artists!
Hamlet, First Draft is a coproduction of Côté Danse, Ex Machina and Dvoretsky Productions.
In short – Frame by Frame is a work of genius

[on Frame by Frame]. “Haunting beauty… an example of how film and dance can blend on stage in a magically fruitful way it is an altogether remarkable piece of work.”
