Once upon a time, two rich and powerful families– the Montagues and Capulets –lived in Verona. Their mutual hatred would spell doom for the youthful passion of their children, Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet. It’s with this most epic of all tragic love stories that the Festival welcomes BalletMet and presents, for the first time in its history, an entire ballet. Choreographed by Edwaard Liang, this major production, set to the magnificent score by Prokofiev, is a sumptuous celebration of BalletMet’s 40th anniversary. The American company and its 26 dancers are renowned for their versatility and a creative repertory. This full version of Romeo and Juliet is a first in Saint-Sauveur!
“Throughout the ballet’s three acts, Liang’s technically demanding choreography succeeds in impressing the audience. […] A true feast for the senses.”Broadway World, Columbus
